This site is dedicated to providing information about the ski resort of Avoriaz to both winter sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers alike.

Avoriaz has been a popular Alps ski resort since its inception in the 1960s. It was created by a French Olympic champion, wanting to showcase the home town ski slopes that had shaped him, and has become increasingly popular ever since, due to its naturally diverse selection of pistes, beautiful location between the borders of France and Switzerland and also its high rate of snowfall

The resort is one of the highest in the Alps at an altitude of 1800m and sits on a cliff face, nestled in the huge Portes du Soleil territory between the two countries. So whilst it is an intimate resort, there is plenty of space to ski uninterrupted for miles. Holidaymakers are also attracted by its location; they can easily leave to explore the European city of Geneva, or cross over to explore France as the area is surrounded by several small hamlets and villages. The area is covered in a thick blanket of very deep powdery snow, so getting around these villages must be done by sledge or by ski; providing an authentic ski experience.

As well as short ski breaks, Avoriaz also attracts other winter sports lovers; particularly catering for snowboarders and has always been a first choice resort for boarders due to its championing of the sport and the provision of specialist facilities.  If you aren’t a skier, or are only a beginner, you'll also find that Avoriaz has a range of other relaxing winter-themed activities such as sleigh rides, saunas and hot tubs, après ski facilities, restaurants as well as those breathtaking cable car rides over the stunning vistas of the Alps.

On this site you will find out some more about the activities on offer, some facts about travelling to the region, as well as a guide to Avoriaz accommodation options in the resort and surrounding areas.
